Supporting the return to work

Support for the return to work is one part of the early support model. A successful support process lowers the threshold for an employee to return to work, accelerates the return from a sick leave and reinforces the desire to remain in working life. Support for the return to work also helps to reduce the costs accrued by an employer as a result of prolonged absences due to illness.

The duration of an employee’s incapacity for work can be decreased through regular communications between the workplace and the individual on sick leave, the assignment of a specific person to coordinate the return to work and the assessment of the workplace ergonomics by the occupational health service.
